It is added in traditional Indian desserts and other dishes for the lovely Aroma and strong flavor it imparts. It is not only the taste but health benefits of cardamom which makes it a favorite spice.

 Types of Cardamom

Green Cardamom / Choti Elaichi – It is green in color and small in size. It imparts a pleasing aroma and enhances flavors. It is majorly used in desserts and drinks.

Black cardamom / Badi Elaichi – It is Black in color and bigger in size when compared to green cardamom. It is majorly used in spicy preparations with strong flavors, like rice, spicy stews, curries and Garam masala.

 

Benefits of Cardamom

1] Improves Digestion – Cardamom helps in stimulation and regular excretion of gastric juices in the stomach. It helps in balancing these acids in cases of acidity, thus providing relief during heart burns. A good benefit of cardamom is that chewing it after meals helps those suffering from flatulence and gas problems. Cardamom is also beneficial in stomach cramps. It also helps in relieving hiccups.

2] Anti spasmodic – Cardamom helps in relieving muscle spasms and tremors. It improves blood circulation to the lungs and can be helpful for those suffering from whooping cough, sore throat, asthma or bronchitis.

3] Detoxifying agent – Cardamom helps in cleansing of body. It is considered to be a refinement spice against caffeine. It also helps those who want to quit their addictions like smoking, alcohol, tobacco chewing, and even those who have a sweet tooth. It helps in removing the urges.

Benefits of cardamom has been known to mankind since ancient times. In Ayurveda, cardamom is referred to as “Tridoshic” and is used in balancing the three doshas of human body.

    Thank You Soo Much For This Information.I just want to know that we should have only that Cardamom seeds right but not the outer part of it.And per day how many we can have becoz i have a little Stomach Ache Problem.Please Suggest.

      Thank you for reading at Dietburrp. No you can chew on the whole cardamom and spit of the remains later. the cover is also rich in essential oils. dont worry it doent affect your stomach ache in any way if you spit the remains. you can have around 8 – 10 buds everyday.

      Thank you for reading at Dietburrp. There isnt any quantity restriction in consuming cardamom. you can have a max of 15 – 20 buds daily.

      Thank you for reading at Dietburrp. Yes cardamom is helpful in these condition , but the quantity intake is very high. for a good night sleep, it is best to have a 45 mins walk after dinner, have a warm water bath and then drink a glass of warm milk and read yourself a good book to sleep.

    I AM STAYING AT WEST AFRICA. AFTER COMMING FROM INDIA SINCE 5 MONTH I AM SUFFERING WITH HYPERACDITY AND HYPER TENSION (MY HEAD IS SHRINKING LIKEO HEART BEAT). MORE AT NIGHT. SUDDENLY WAKE UP AT MID NIGHT WILL GO TO TOILET AND FEELING TERRIBLE SHRINKING WITH INCREASING BP. HERE I AM NOT ABLE TO GET ANY AYURVEDIC MEDICINE IN THIS PART OF WORLD. IF I TOOK ALOPATHY THEN THERE ARE SEVERAL SIDE EFFECT. CAN YOU GUIDE ME PLEASE.

      The problems that you have mentioned can be triggered both physically and emotionally. I hope you are emotionally strong. You need to feel haapy , secure and content to be able to get rid of this feeling. If the problem is triggered due to physical reasons, please check on these things , as one of the below mentioned reasons are causing these problems, and you would need to work to solve them –

      1] Irregular meal timings and long gap (5 hour or more) between your meals. regularize meal timings eat at every 2 hours , include buttermilk / green tea / curd in your diet
      2] Having food which is fried or full of spicies
      3] You may be drinking very less water. drink atleast 3-4 liters of water eveyday.
      4] Are you taking any medicines which are strong ?
      5] Eating lesser than the body’s requirement.
      6] Too much of alcohol or smoking can cause the similar problem

      Yes it does. but it does not have a strong and immediate relief effect, but it can help to some level by supressing the gastric acids attacking effect on the stomach walls. regularly consuming cardamom may help in the long run .

      Thank you for stopping by and reading at DietBurrp. There is no particular food that will help you gain a flatter belly , its your over all weight loss. All foods that are healthy , low fat , low carb , and high in fiber will be beneficial for you , have more of daliya (broken wheat), Brown rice , Melon fruits, low calorie liquids like buttermilk / chaas / lemon water / green tea / coconut water / vegetable soups etc . Oats , Bran, all the red , yellow and green veggies, egg whites and lean meat.

      avoid any food that is fried / fast foods / maida containing foods / soft drinks and aerated beverages, butter. Have limited amount of oil and ghee ( 3-4 tsp fats in totality in a day).

      Although there is nothing as spot reduction, but we have found that when you exercise for any particular body part, the muscles in that region work out more in comparison to muscles elsewhere in the body, hence this helps in toning up. so if you want to lose belly fat, try running and jogging in the first hand and then shif to doing varieties of abb exercises and stomach crunches. this should help.
