Last Updated on July 25, 2025 | RD, Payal Banka (Registered Dietitian) Leave a Comment

Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic inflammatory liver disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks liver cells. If left untreated, it can lead to liver cirrhosis or ESLD (end-stage liver failure). While medication is the primary treatment, a healthy, anti-inflammatory diet plays a critical role. Read on to understand how to Manage Autoimmune Hepatitis with an Indian Diet Plan. Sample Indian Diet Plan for Autoimmune Hepatitis.

Manage Autoimmune Hepatitis with an Indian Diet Plan

Autoimmune Disorders

In an autoimmune disease, the immune system mistakenly attacks and damages the body’s healthy tissues instead of protecting them from viruses or bacteria. This causes inflammation and affects various parts of the body, leading to a wide range of symptoms depending on which tissues or organs are involved. There are more than 80 recognized autoimmune diseases, and they are typically chronic, requiring ongoing management

Symptoms of Autoimmune Hepatitis

  • Fatigue

  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)

  • Abdominal discomfort

  • Joint pain

  • Loss of appetite

  • Dark urine and pale stools
