You must have seen the cartoon character Bugs Bunny with a carrot in his hand at all times. And if you have, I am sure you must have observed that he was really fast, active and quite brainy too. Thre are many benefits of carrot juice that we have mentioned below. Read on and use this tasty health drink.

benefits of carrot juice

Nutrients in carrots that contribute to the benefits of carrot juice

Carrots are excellent sources of beta carotene, Vitamin K  and fiber. It is also a good source of Vitamin C, B6, B3, and B1.

Benefits of Carrot Juice :

  • Improves vision:

The huge amount of beta carotene present in carrots helps in improving vision and protects against eye problems like glaucoma. It also helps reduce night blindness.

  • Anti-carcinogenic:

The most important amongst benefits of carrot juice is its anti-cancer activity. Falcarinol in carrot juice has been found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the colon and supports the health of lower digestive tracts.

  • Cardiovascular protection:

Carrots are uniquely composed of a variety of antioxidants, unlike any other food. These varieties of antioxidants and polyacetylenes together provide a protective shield to the heart. It saves the heart from oxidative damage, plaque formation, bad cholesterol elevation, and other problems.

  • Immune booster:

The variety of nutrients and antioxidants present in carrot juice along with Vitamin C helps in boosting immunity. It helps in creating a protective shield for our bodies.

  • Helps during menstruation and the post-menopausal phase:

The benefits of carrot juice are like a blessing in disguise for women. The phytoestrogen in carrots helps in easing the menstrual pain and regularizing bleeding in those who have a heavy menstrual flow. It is also found to be effective in post-menopausal women. It helps in getting rid of hot flushes and stabilizes other menopausal symptoms.

  • Helps in skin problems:

The antioxidants in carrots help in slowing down the aging process and information of collagen to maintain the elasticity of the skin. This reduces wrinkles and other aging signs of the skin. It also helps in skin conditions like pimples and acne, rashes, dermatitis and other skin problem that occur due to deficiency of Vitamin A.

  • Helps during pregnancy:

Carrot juice is beneficial during pregnancy. It helps in proper development of the fetus and also reduces the chances of fetal infections and miscarriage. It helps in the production of breast milk during lactation.

  • Provides fiber:

I like my carrot juice unstrained. This helps me take advantage of all the above mentioned nutrients and its fibre too. Straining the juice will lead to loss of valuable fibre content of carrots. This fiber adds on to the benefits of carrot juice. It helps in regularizing bowel movements and aids digestion. Carrot juice also helps in conditions like constipation and acid reflux.  It helps in weight loss and preventing sugar hikes in blood after juice intake.

  • Provides calcium:

The lesser-known benefits of carrot juice are that it also contains calcium, this helps in the growth and development of bones in children and women.

EndNote:

Benefits of carrot juice can be availed by adding a small glass of carrot juice to your daily diet. You can add tomato/ginger/apple/cucumber or other fruits to this juice too.

      Hi Rajat ,

frankly , it will not be of much help if you are 25 + years of age . under that , yes it will help considerably. After 25 years of age , benefits are there but they are not always measureable.

    Hi Payal,

I came across dietburrp while browsing for a very trivial question. You give lot of useful information. Thanks for that. Am from south india and would like to know are there any vegetables or fruits that should be avoided during winter? Is it true, by eating some vegetables, one will get cold or it gets aggravated? Thanks in advance!

      Hi Sudha,

well , scientifically that is not true. science does not really claim that this is a fact. but ayurveda does believe in such a concept . like for ex , avoid banana as they might cause cough .. and so on .. well the answer depends on how much you believe in ayurveda . so personally i find a mid way for most such controversial theories , like no matter what you eat, if its winter , if you consume anything from the refrigerator , there is a chance you might catch a cold. so just take care of the temperature of food and not really the food.

mostly you should concentrate on using the seasonal fruits and veggies, i know we get everything in every weather now a days ,, but that is all green house produce. so just enter a farmers outlet , and buy the daily produce , you will get only seasonal there … it will help in maintaining good health
