Dengue is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people. A disease that commonly occurs during the rainy seasons when mosquitoes breed. dengue risk can be lowered by avoiding mosquito bites, especially during the day. Dengue is treated with pain medicine as there is no specific treatment currently. However, it’s crucial to maintain the patient’s platelet counts. This Indian diet plan for dengue fever ( Diet plan to increase Platelet count at home)

While most dengue infections are either asymptomatic or produce only mild illness and recover in 1–2 weeks, the virus can occasionally become fatal.

Symptoms of Dengue Fever

If symptoms occur, they usually begin 4–10 days after infection and last for 2–7 days. Symptoms may include

  • high fever
  • severe headache
  • weakness
  • body pain
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • swollen glands
  • skin rash

If the infection further worsens, the symptoms become more severe, the patient may have

  • severe abdominal pain
  • persistent vomiting
  • rapid breathing
  • bleeding gums or nose
  • fatigue
  • restlessness
  • blood in vomit or stool
  • being very thirsty
  • pale and cold skin
  • feeling weak.

People with these severe symptoms need immediate medical attention. Often the recovered patients feel fatigue and weakness for several weeks.

Tips for Prevention from Dengue

Dengue is spread by infected female mosquitoes. After feeding on an infected person, the virus replicates in the mosquito. The mosquito incubates the virus and it takes about 8–12 days for the virus to grow completely.  These mosquitoes that spread dengue are active during the day. Once infectious, the mosquito can transmit the virus for the rest of its life.

If you have an infected person in your house, you can lower the risk of spreading the infection, as well as, prevent yourself and others in the vicinity by following these tips.

  • Wear clothes that cover as much of your body as possible
  • Use mosquito nets even during the day
  • Use mosquito repellents that contain DEET
  • Prevent mosquito breeding by properly disposing of the waste and covering the waste bins.

Diet Plan to Increase Platelet Count at Home

A diet rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients, anti-oxidants, and immune-boosting foods helps tremendously to fight dengue.

List of Foods to Eat to Increase Platelet Count at Home

  • Fruits: Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, papaya, guavas, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, and berries
  • Leafy greens: Spinach, kale, and broccoli
  • Protein: Lean proteins like chicken, eggs, turkey, tofu, paneer, mung dal and fish
  • Whole grains: Brown rice, quinoa, oats, and whole wheat bread
  • Low-fiber grains: White rice, white bread, and poha in case of digestion issues or loss of appetite
  • Vegetables: Peeled and cooked vegetables like bottlegourd, potato, ridge gourd, parwal, carrots, pumpkin, and capsicums
  • Low-fat dairy: Skim milk and skim yogurt
  • Light meals, that are easy for the body to process and absorb
  • Hydrating fluids: water-rich fruits or tender coconut water

  • Spicy, salty, fried, and fatty foods
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Too many raw veggies

An anti-inflammatory diet also helps.  The below-mentioned diet plan contains foods that specifically help increase your platelet count. Indian Diet Plan for Dengue Fever

Early Morning: 1 cup turmeric tea or turmeric milk with black pepper or any anti-inflammatory drink

Breakfast: 1 cup oats upama with vegetables OR 1 cup daliya upama with vegetables OR 1 cup rawa upama with vegetables

Mid snack:1 glass pomogranate+ beetroot + apple juice  OR 1 orange

Lunch:1 bowl curd rice or 2 small phulka with plain toru ki sabji and mung ki dal

Eve snack: 1 coconut water + 100 gms fresh homemade paneer with elaichi and cinnamon powder and some pomegranate mixed

Dinner: 1 cup palak soup + 1 bowl dal khichadi OR 1 bowl Quinoa upama OR 1 bowl Foxtail Millet + mung dal khichadi
