Haemoglobin is an iron-rich protein component in the red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. Haemoglobin gives blood its red colour. It is made up of four chains that contain haem iron. This haem iron transports oxygen in the blood stream. As per Recommended Dietary Intake ( RDI ), adult man needs to consume about 8 milligrams of iron daily. On the other hand, adult woman requires 18 milligrams of iron daily. Thanks....my haemoglobin level was down last month but has picked up now and iam ok...thank God I didn't do anything stupid like gulping Rooh Afza... good sense prevailed...lol
