Indian Liquid diet plan for weight loss . The word “Liquid diet “gets a lot of us to think of multiple things. If we talk in relation to weight loss, the word Liquid diet reminds some of detoxification, restricting calories and giving your gastrointestinal system some rest. Where in to some it may sound too harsh or they relate it with crash diet. The word “ Liquid diet “ may provoke a lot of thoughts in a healthy individual , but for someone suffering from Gastrointestinal disorders like crohn’s disease and ulcers , and for a pre and post operative individuals, it is of utmost importance.

Indication of Liquid diet plan

Although we mostly think of weight loss when it comes to liquid diets, but that is not all. There are a lot of clinical conditions where liquid diets are prescribed and they are really beneficial. Liquid diet can be advised for following clinical conditions.

1] Detoxification in healthy individuals.

2] During or after Panchkarma procedure. (A kind of detoxifying procedure in Ayurveda medicine)

3] Cancer of mouth, other teeth and gum related procedures and surgeries.

4] Crohn’s disease

5] Tonsillitis and tonsillectomy

6] Throat cancer and other throat related disorders.

7] Esophageal cancer and other esophageal disorders like ulcers.

8] Stomach and other gastrointestinal disorders

9] Pre and post operative cases.

10] Weight loss

 

Benefits of Liquid diet plan

There are several benefits of this Indian Liquid diet plan for weight loss. here are a few to sum up.

1] It helps in providing rest to the gastric and intestinal organs.

2] It helps in retaining electrolyte balance.

3] Helps in maintaining Hydration.

4] it helps in providing some nutrition in people who are unable to intake solid foods due to any mouth, throat , esophagus related clinical issues.

5] It can be used as a transition phase for patients who were previously on RT feeds, and other tube feeds.

6] It helps in detoxification of the body by helping in washing out the excess toxins through increased urination.

7] It helps in restricting calorie intake and hence is beneficial in weight loss.

 

Side effects of liquid diet plan

Anything in excess is not good. Similarly this Indian liquid diet plan for weight loss when followed for a short duration is beneficial. Liquid diets are very low in calorie and hence not advisable to be followed for more than a week. It may cause weakness and fatigue in normal individual who are completely dependent on the liquids for their caloric intake.

Types of liquid diet plans

Liquid diets can be further classified in to 2 types based on the nutrient contents and transparency of the item. The 2 types of liquid diets are –

1] Clear liquid diets

2] Full liquid diet

Clear Liquid diet plan

As the name suggests, a clear liquid diet is free of fragments of foods and fiber or any sort. These diet plans contains liquids such as plain water and broths which do not provide any residue or fiber and can be digested very easily. Clear liquid diet items are hence always strained before they can be consumed.

Following are some items that can be included in a clear liquid diet plan.

  • Water (plain, carbonated or flavored)
  • Strained coconut water
  • Gelatin water (strained)
  • Strained fruit juices (no pulp) (ex- orange , pineapple, sweet lime, melons etc )
  • Strained lemonades with sugar , salt and pepper
  • Black tea with or without lemon or peach flavored
  • Black coffee with or without added cinnamon powder
  • Vegetable broths and consomme (veggies cut and boiled in water )
  • Strained vegetable juices Like that of cucumber , carrots and tomatoes
  • Sports drinks without preservatives
  • Ice pops and ice- creams (candy based ice cream without any cream and milk)

 

Liquid diet plan

A full liquid diet plan or an indian liquid diet plan for weight loss can consist of items with or without fiber and residue. It is only the fluid consistency of item that matters. A full liquid diet is much more nutritious in comparison to a clear liquid diet and hence can be carried on for a longer time (not more than 10 days).

Normally when on liquid diet , people follow the regular 3 or 4 meal pattern , but i would suggest to follow a 2 or 3 hourly pattern . That way the body can be provided with good nutrients and the calories can still be kept to a lower side. You can include a wide range of fluids through various flavors of soups, fruit juices, smoothies and protein shakes too. Given below is a compilation of a reference full liquid diet plan. This is an Indian liquid diet plan for weight loss.

Indian Liquid diet plan For weight loss

This Indian liquid diet plan for weight loss can be of good help for those who are obese or over weight. When any weight loss regime is followed for long, the body neutralizes its effect over a period of time, and the weight gets stable at some point. This is also referred as plateau effect. This Indian Liquid diet plan can serve as a plateau breaker for such people. This Indian liquid diet plan will provide rest to the Gastric system and change the body’s set routine. Once the routine is broken the body again starts reacting to the diet and exercises patterns and the weight again starts to go down.

Please Note – Liquid diets are low in calories but at the same time they are not sufficient to full fill the calorie requirements in an individual. Hence it should be followed for a limited period of time to avoid weakness and deficiencies of nutrients.

    hi mam m pinky actually a cancer patient for liposarcoma and been through multiple surgeries but I want to know some simple recipes which requires less or no cooking because almost every three months I go for surgeries and I absolutely do not want to put on weight as it is hell for me.I want to ask more but after I gain energy to type. thank u mama.

      yes black coffee shots can be added . specially if you are working out , have the black coffee shots just before you start ypur workout . it is very effective in burning fat . you can follow this plan for max 3 days .. depening on your BMR and activity levels.

      If you follow GM diet , your milk supply will be affected . if that is ok with you then you can go ahead . your son is old enough for top[ feeds and this should not be a problem

      liquid diets are good only when followed for 1-2 days but following it for more tan that is not recommended. no mater what diet you follow , the boidy always initially gets rid of water weight . but the challenge lies in continuing what you started for a longer period of time , beacuse once the body loses water weight , it turns to glycogen stores before it finally uses fats.

      yes , 1 day a week will help in detoxification but not weight loss. for weight loss, follow it for 2-3 days and then shift to eating simple semisolids like khichadi and daliya along with soups and salads.

On your sample Indian Liquid diet plan are there measurements on how much of the foods to eat? Like small or medium apple? It says two soup bowls but it doesn’t say what size soup bowls or how many ounces of soup? How many ounces of warm water in the glass?

    Hi Payal. Let me start by appreciating & thanking for this wonderful program. I have been following your blog eagerly. I have already started following the Indian Veg GM diet. I have some queries.
    1. I am 33 years old, weigh around 88 kgs with a height of around 166cms. my BMR is 1623kcals/day & BMI is Class 1 obese. My question is how many kcals a day am i suppose to have to loose weight ? I also make a point to walk for arond 5 kms in moderate pace everyday.
    Can i start your 1200k cals diet with one day a week of liquid diet.?

    2. Secondaly, I am a Muslim, Is it possible for you to give us a rough diet chart on how to have our mesl in Ramadan. We eat after sunset till sunrise.

    Hi Payal.I suffer from regular constipation & ocassional acidity. Last 1 year I make sure to have 1 physical activity almost daily – Swimming/Zumba/Yoga for 45 mins. Weight loss is not much but body has got toned. If i folow the liquid diet plan once in a week, will it help in relieving constipation & also in weight loss? I am 5.4 in height & 64 kgs weight, 36 years.

    Also, what can i replace the 5PM juice with? As I am in office it is difficult to get fresh juice.

      Thanks a lot dear. you can have any available liquid at 5pm . its ok to replace it with any other item mentioned in the chart that you can arrange for that time,

      this diet will help you weight loss if followed once a week . but as far as constipation is concerned it wil help you only if the constipation is due to less fluid intake .

    firstly your blog is very useful n i saw your quick replies too. congratulations for such a quick service. looking hopefully towards u.
    i am 42 yrs working women. my profession allows/encourages me to sit . my weight at the time of marriage was 62 kg n after 2 yrs, at the time of pregnancy it was @100kg. after 2-3 yrs it varied between 81-85kg. from those days i am trying to lose wt. tried sooo many things n diet plans, workouts, yoga etc. i lose some wt at times but it again increased. i hv hypothyroidism. and undergone the thermal ablation procedure. so no menses since 4 yrs. ( this may the reason behind tummy) due to inconsistency in all those now i am 113kgs.

    i dont want to be operated for wt loss. i want to reduce now permanently. is it possible to reduce upto 60-65 kgs? can u help me? i am comfortable with walking, yoga. (walking @45 min. daily medium slowly) i love sweets rather i love all kind of food. i am purely veg maharashtrian. shall i try gm plan again ( tried it unsuccessfully) or liquid plan?

    Hi Payal .. I have been going through your website.. Interesting .

    I am a 34 year old South indian and eat rice in all forms ( Idly, dosa, kichdi ) etc etc ..

    I am 5’3 and weigh 65 Kgs. Trying to loose weight starting from today . Have tried several weight loss methods before and couldn’t sustain beyond a week . Presently since my work involves sitting for long hours & in the absence of adequate exercise, I have put on 5 kgs in the past 3 years . I want to loose 10kgs or atleast 5kgs over a period of time . How do I do this without losing focus . Also I am a die hard coffe fan & have limited the number to 4 cups per day .

    Have the following issues with my body

    1) Have undergone ACL ligament restructuring 10 years before and still the bone strength is less and undergoing strengthening exercises . Can walk on alternative days with medium speed

    2) Bone density is low and am asked to take more diary products ..

    3) When I am hungry I get a lot of sweet cravings and eat more so I cannot be famished for a long time ..

    4) If I eat less in the morning or noon I start feeling hungry very quickly and end up eating snacks ..

    5) If I eat 2 hours before sleep I feel hungry and wake up at night and start eating ..

    Request to suggest a diet plan that will help me
