Have you checked with your gyneac about the irregular cycle ? Do you have any other symptom of hormonal dysfunction ? has the weight gone uo in the last fe days / months ? i think its important to consider this before deciding on diet , if it is hormonal, the weight would not go down despite your efforts , unless a proper treatment is done ...
other than that yes GM and then 1200 calorie diet plan will be a good way to handle the weight.
