Note:

This 1200 calorie Tamil diet plan for weight loss will help you lose 3-4 kgs weight in a month. This Tamil diet plan for weight loss is best to be followed along with a 45 minutes workout schedule. You can choose walking, swimming, skating, or any other workout. Please note that the above mentioned Tamil diet plan for weight loss is for reference only.

Important Tips to follow with a weight loss diet:

Along with the above mentioned Tamil diet plan for weight loss, you can follow the below-mentioned tips to lose good weight.

  • Don’t miss your meals:

A lot of people are of a view that if they miss a meal / skip a meal, they will lose weight but that is not correct. Instead of losing weight, you end up eating more at the next meal. You would keep thinking about food all the time and will rather gain weight. Just eat right and you should be good. Place your food at 3 hours interval, and avoid anything that you know is not right.

  • Post Meal walks:

small steps can help in major results sometimes. Getting inactive after meals will only add up on the weight machine. You need to walk for at least 10 – 15 minutes after you finish your lunch as well as dinner. This will not only help in losing weight but also in maintaining your blood sugar levels.

  • Make a shopping list:

If you shop from supermarkets, you should make a shopping list before you step into such stores. The colorful display of calorie-laden mouth-watering foods will make you forget about your health goals in less than a minute. It is wise to have a shopping list ready and to go by it.

  • Be wise:

Smart marketing plans can easily fool anyone easily. Just because a particular chakli/murukku is made up of ragi, does not mean that it was not fried and will help you lose weight. Choose wisely. Read labels, pay attention to the ingredients used as well as the process of cooking involved.

  • Get your family or loved ones involved:

It is always a good idea to get support from those who care for you. Let them know about your health goals. if your health goal is genuine and practical, you will get support from each one at home and that will serve as a perfect motivation for weight loss. Take your wife/brother/sister or parent with you on a walk, cook healthy and get everyone to eat the tasty salads along with their foods.

  • Watch your portion sizes:

If you are a foodie type, I know how much you love food. The key is not giving up on tasty food, but watching your portion size. I t is a win-win situation where you get to eat tasty food of you like at the cost of minding your portion size.

  • Be practical:

Instead of having a huge goal of losing 10 kgs in a month, Aim at losing 2 or 3 kgs. This is a practical and achievable goal. Keep trying and at the end of the month rewards your efforts by doing what you like. Go for a movie or a small trekking trip with friends.

  • Write it down:

Using a diary or a smartphone application to record your walking, any physical activity or food intake will help you in understanding how you are holding up against your health goal and your efforts are helping you out to reach them. These applications also help you in motivating yourself towards reaching your health goal.

  • Diet “OR” Exercise :

The word “OR” does not fit well in between diet and exercise. The combination of both Diet and exercise is the best you can do for achieving your weight loss goal. Only dieting, or, only exercising for weight loss is really not enough.

  • Do not depend on Crash Diets:

There are hundreds of crash diets out there and none of them is really healthy to help you achieve your nutrition. These small-term diets will only harm your health and the weight loss is only temporary. Sooner or later it will all come back.

  • Don’t become emotional eaters:

If you are upset or stressed or depressed about anything, go out and solve that problem with poise and calm and do not get carried away with comfort foods. They only end up increasing your troubles and weight.

  • Don’t miss breakfast:

As mentioned earlier, missing on any meal is not an ideal way to lose weight. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and is definitely not to be missed. Apart from the nutrition perspective, it is also important to consider that the appetite of a person who misses on breakfast grows up to be enormous and the imbalance in food intake causes nutritional imbalances.

(I used to wear em really tight). I have to reduce two kgs before Jan since I have my wedding on Feb. I have been trying my diet for last two months which is not working. M maintaining my diet but am having a heavy non veg meal at least once in a week(am a non veg freak). Is that the reason y am not able to reduce my weight. Should I totally avoid non veg till my marriage for my diet to work.

      Hi Sasmitha,

congratulation on your wedding . no you do not really need to avoid non -veg as it is only 1 time a week. to lose the last 2 kgs , all you need is workout . that will not only tone you up well , but prepare your body , skin and figure to look gorgeous for your big day . 45 mins session every day where you sweat it out , is all that you need.

Yes one thing I would like to add, my bad exp was when eating boiled veggies… Yukkk it is a torture.. I prefer to eat them all raw…but yes I cant eat broccoli raw.
I stopped the boiled veggies after day 2. I eat them all raw and I put broccoli in Soups.
This is has gone so strong to my head that I may not eat boiled veggies at all. I kind of over cooked them in the steamer. I did add olive oil and chilly flakes but over cooking spoilt it. Normally the best part when we buy sizzlers in hotels are these veggies so I was confident I can sail through day 2 easily, honestly that was the toughest. With day 4 being next one, as milk and bananas only whole day made me more hungry I ended up having one bowl of soup for lunch. Having a sweet tooth I love to eat fruits all the time so that was the easiest day for me. Moreoever since this diet does not restrict how many times we should eat.. I enjoyed day one.

    Hi Payal,

Just started reading you website and I find it quite sensible. I have started my GM diet, taken your Indian GM diet and tweaked a bit here and there.
If it works well I wil share it with you so you can inturn share it with others ;) ( this inspires me you know that my idea worked and will work for others too).

I am a tamilian and am quiet watchful about what I eat. One thing that crossed my mind is GM diet i a fast paced diet plan, and here you mention do not go by quick fix diets. Are we doing right by using the GM diet. I have no health issues, just that I have put on few kilos more.
Let me know your view on this.

      Hi Roopa,

that would be great if you can share your experiences and recipes with our other readers . the more you help, better is the number of people who start living healthy and choose a better life for them .

basically going a healthier and natural way is the best way to steady weight loss. if you read my GM diet write up carefully and read the comments , i have always asked my readers to follow GM diets only when they have reached a plateau in their weight loss journey , or want to jerk start their weight loss. i also advice them to not continously follow GM diet as it is a crash diet and will not help in maintaining the lost weight for long . Ive made a lot of teenage rivals :P as i keep telling them this is not their age to follow GM. use GM wisely for your benefit. hence i have modified my version of GM diet to make it healthier in comparison to the original layout of the GM diet.

        Hi Payal,

Thanks for the clarification. Yes I agree, we need to follow GM diet carefully. I liked your version better as It is more easier. I never feel hungry at any point of time. Drinking water generously is crucial too. And yes I did read several advices where you have told teenagers and nursing moms not to get into this diet mode. It is also a sincere view so I appreciate this.
Today I am on day 5, 2 more days to go. This diet surely needs lot of will power and I am wondering how to make it attractive to my hubby as I am sure he will find it touch from day 1- day4.
After day 7 I am going to use your 1200 cal diet plan., this will help me maintain the weightloss. I cook both north indian and south indian food so your articles give me ideas for varieties of snacks. Thanks again Payal.

you can start doing diets once your baby starts with top feed and does not extensively depend on you for his nutritional needs. normally 9 – 10 months onwards is a good time if you baby start with 5-6 top feeds by then.

      Hi ,

If you are breast feeding the baby, you should not think about dieting for weiht loss. yes exercises can be included 5th month onwards . start with walking for 30 mins , and then gradually increase the time to 60 mins every day.

you can workout at any possible time of the day , but remember there should be atleast 1 – 1.30 hours gap between your meeal and food intake . so after breakfast , wait for 1.5 hours

    Hi Payal,

I am Anita. After a long search in google, landed here which i would definitely say its a boon for me. I am 36 yrs old, weighing 82 and my height is 5’7. Now i am going for ivf treatment where my doc had asked me to reduce atleast 10 kgs. Being settled in delhi i have a habit of eating both south & north cusine regularly. One small clarification i need is that I am on dhea pills. is it still ok to follow the gm diet for a week and continue with the combi of both north and south diet?

    Thanks
    Anita

      Hi Manju ,

like any other crash diet , this diet too may make you lose water weight and then gain back all the lost weight . but not if you use it intelligently . Nothing is bad when you do it sensibly . hence i advice my clients to use my version of GM diet plan for once a month and then follow the 1200 calorie diet for the remaining 3 weeks to be able to maintain that weight . so if you use it wisely , it is good . ar else it is as harmful to your body as anyu other crash diet .

      Hi Suji ,

Thanks a lot for the complements and for reading at Dietburrp. you can follow the chart for 1 month to see the changes in your weight , after which the body will get used to the pattern and the weight loss will slow down , you will then have to change the pattern of food and exercise to lose further weight.

      hI pOORANI,

Your body must have gotten used to the exercises and walking you do and now adjusts to whatever little calories you are intakingf. this happens in a lot of cases where despite of all efforts you dont lose a bit. breaking this plateau requires a lot of patience …. here is what you can do …….. exercise wise – stop doing what you are already doing for a week … and then you surprise your body with a new activity .. for ex – you have been walking all these days , so now change your activity to swimming / zumba dancing / skatting / gyming / playing badminton or lawn tennis … whatever suits you best. tai chi and kick boxing and pillates work excellently in such cases., i know its hard to find time and availabilty of such sports around you .. but if you want to get there .. you need to find harder !!

Food wise – surprise your body yet agin by co nsuming food stuffs that you never did .. it changes your metabolic graph and hence makes you lose weight …. ex – if you have been eating wheat and rice as staples so far … dont eat them for an entire week , and consume other cereals like bajra , jowar , or ragi …. this funda has worked superbly with my clients .. you can try and see if it suits you too ..

    Hai madam,

I read your articles with most interest on type 2 diabetes as i suffer from, both my glucose levels are a little above 250, instead i walk for 45 mins every evening before dinner. But your article suggests to go for walk min 10 mins after each meal is something new from others. But i will follow your advise as there is nothing to loose but benefits.
And the suggestions given for reducing belly fat are welcomable but i need little clarification on doing Surya namaskaar, is 30 namaskaars possible per day or something wrong in writing?

Although i am south indian, i am much interested in roti and phulka also, so i can follow both diet plans that includes salads also.

Thanks for your interesting topics, keep continuing.

    with regards

1] you can walk for 10 mins after your meals and with that you can continue walking for 45 mins are you are already doing.

2] yes 30 surya namaskar is possible. but can start with 5 then gradually increase it to 10 , 15 , 20 and so on as per your comfort.

3] yes you can follow any of the plan or combine both.

do let me know if you face any difficulty while following the plan , i would try to help you where i can.

Pimples can be due to many reasons. it could be due to hormonal imbalance , oily skin , faulty eating habits or too much oily food intake. it can be due to pollution and dirt too . you need to see a dermatologist to know the exact reason .
