10 common mistakes dieters make

So many people go on a diet, only to end up disappointed. Why is the success rate so low, you may ask. After analyzing scores of dieting cases, it was seen that there are some concepts that may be going wrong, leading to disappointment in weight loss.

  1. Starving during the day and eating only one meal at night: Though this may sound repetitive, it is vital to weight loss and so frequently ignored, that one is forced to remind potential dieters of this.
  2. Eating sprouts on a day when you are also eating cooked food: The combination of sprouts and regular cooked food is very fattening. If you are eating sprouts, then do not add anything with it. The best time to eat sprouts is before your workout or early in the morning. But when you eat a bowl of sprouts along with your lunch / dinner, then the sprouts will only form gases and will not be that helpful for weight loss. When having sprouts, do not mix it with any other cooked food.
  3. Drinking juices (very fattening) and coconut water (good for kidney, not so good when trying to knock off flab).
  4. Eating plenty of ketchup, pickles.
  5. Eating too many of the diet foods like diet chocolate, diet fizzy drinks, diet cookies (heavy on fat and loaded with aspartame which in high doses also prevents weight loss).
  6. Eating too many carbs : Often repeated but true because some people with a carb-sensitive profile do not lose weight despite being on a low calorie diet.
  7. Drinking mega-doses of milk and consuming lot of dairy in the form of curd, paneer, cheese:  Too much of dairy makes the elimination system sluggish, a sensible amount of dairy suits some people but not all blood groups.
  8. Drinking tea/coffee more than 8 cups a day: Creates toxins within the system which stagnates weight loss.
  9. Drinking soup at night does not suit women as it promotes water retention and increases weight.
  10. Eating dals at night: Too heavy to digest and stays as calories. And here are a few more:
  11. A lot of people consider dals as proteins whereas most dals have only 30% protein so their protein content is 1/3 that of egg and dals have 65-70% carbs (so a lot of dals can add to your carbs too).
  12. Doing fad diets like only vegetables and fruits for 7 days will  always lead to rebound weight gain.
  13. Worrying endlessly:  Sounds strange but true, the more you fret about weight loss the less likely it is going to fall, so cheer up, go slow and 1 year of consistent weight loss is far better than a lifetime of dieting!

if you have gained weight recently , then instead on going on only sprout diet , just have a balanced low cal diet along with a 45 mins workout session . this is more than enough to help you attain the ideal weight

Your body must have gotten used to the exercises and walking you do and now adjusts to whatever little calories you are intakingf. this happens in a lot of cases where despite of all efforts you dont lose a bit. breaking this plateau requires a lot of patience …. here is what you can do …….. exercise wise – stop doing what you are already doing for a week … and then you surprise your body with a new activity .. for ex – you have been walking all these days , so now change your activity to swimming / zumba dancing / skatting / gyming / playing badminton or lawn tennis … whatever suits you best. tai chi and kick boxing and pillates work excellently in such cases., i know its hard to find time and availabilty of such sports around you .. but if you want to get there .. you need to find harder !!

Food wise – surprise your body yet agin by co nsuming food stuffs that you never did .. it changes your metabolic graph and hence makes you lose weight …. ex – if you have been eating wheat and rice as staples so far … dont eat them for an entire week , and consume other cereals like bajra , jowar , or ragi …. this funda has worked superbly with my clients .. you can try and see if it suits you too ..

      Hi Mags ,

you lack motivation . the best way is to partner up with some one like a family member or a friend , who can push you for weight loss. and keep you motivated . also if you have a weight loss patner you can share your diet and exercises regime and keep yourself motivated . if this is not possible , join any weight loss group on FB or other social mmedia and read posts from this group , this will keep you motivted .

      Hi ,

in the last comment you said you want to loose 12 kgs , in this one you said you dont want tpo lose weight .

what i menat was your diet plan is BRISK . which means you are consuming only 1000 cals in a day . and with exercises and all, there is a chance that you can black out , feel tired and exhausted easily .
