Whether men or women, both genders face this problem sooner or later in life.  Even those who are the right weight may face the tummy fat issue.

A lot of people fall prey for spot reduction solutions like tummy tucks, creams and gels for application on areas you want to lose fat from. There is no such diet that will help you lose tummy fat instantly. Spot reduction is only an illusion. Yes that involves performing 100 or more crunches. It will tone up your muscle, but losing tummy fat or fat from any other  area requires a whole body workout and a nourishing diet. Here are some tips on how to lose tummy fat:

Some people are of a view that doing only crunches as exercise will help in losing tummy fat. But the truth is a proper 45 minutes to 1 hour workout session is required. Cardio exercises helps in building up a stronger midsection and lean muscles. Higher the number of lean muscles, more is the BMR and thus all of this together helps in burning more fat from tummy as well as other problem areas. Just make sure that you exercise regularly and maintain the right posture.

Eat the right food –

 Dieting is often mistaken as eating very less or starving. But if you think that the answer to the question how to lose tummy fat?  is starving , then you are wrong. When you starve the body it goes into famine mode and it starts saving fat instead of burning it. Hence those who eat right maintain a better body shape than those who starve themselves. To speed up your tummy fat burning process you must

  • Eat small frequent meals
  • Include more protein foods in your diet to increase your metabolism. Include curds , milk, sprouts, buttermilk, mung, lean meats like chicken, fish, and egg whites. Read – High protein diet plan
  • Choose complex carbs from brown rice, whole wheat flour, daliya and oats. Read – Indian foods that provide complex carbohydrates 
  • Avoid fats and trans fats, choose baking and steaming over frying. But avoid bakery and confectionery products. These are high in trans-fats.

Stress can contribute to packing in unwanted pounds in the mid-section. Stress causes our cortisol level to sky rocket. Increased cortisol levels have been linked with increased desire to eat and also contribute to fat production. Engage in activities that help you relax to avoid increasing your waist measurement and also to lower your risks of developing heart disease and other stress-related conditions.

 

Drink lots of fluid –

The suggested amount of waer to drink is around 33 ml of water for every kg of body weight i.e. 2.3 liters for a 70 kg person (around 1/2 ounce for every pound i.e. 60 oz for a 120 lb person). Much of your body is made up of water. Not drinking enough water will leave you under-hydrated or even dehydrated. Since weight loss depends on how the body eliminates wastes, the body must stay hydrated

Avoid beer –

If the mere thought of giving up beer is breaking your heart, then drink moderately. Do not binge. Lessen the amount of beer you drink or do so moderately. Why not switch to wine? A glass of wine has only 70 calories. It is still an alcoholic beverage and is just as refreshing. Although limit it to a glass or two. Drinking should always be done in moderation.

    Hi,
    My husabnd is 29 yrs old and ha a height of 5’7 and weighs 93kg.
    We does tremendous workout and consumes less food too.
    as i went through ur articles, i realized that we need to eat proper amount of food and also right food.
    He had appendix operation when he 7yrs due to which we think he has belly fat.he also has double chin.overall he is trying oloose weight and shape his body but is not succesfull after many efforts .
    Can u guide us with right diet plan for the week. {Vegetarian+can take egg}

    Can tummy fat be hereditary???
    I know that sounds like an excuse. But I just can’t rid of it. And it looks more bad immediately after eating. I am not fat but my tummy is like bulged out.
    Please suggest something. I have to wear a tummy Tucker for most of the dresses.

    I went through a couple of diet plans on your blog (keto and others)
    I’m 22 and 5’2. I weigh 64 kgs. my problem area is a pooch belly ie a lot of lower belly fat. Due to my hectic routine, I get no time to work out. I can only spare 30 minutes to walk daily. What diet plan do you suggest? I wish to lose this fat asap for my sister’s wedding. Please help.

    I am 37years old and weigh 79kgs & 161cms, I accumulated maximum tummy fat during my pregnancy.i tried all means like gym, crash diet, Zumba, weight loss programs etc.. Nothing worked.. Please help me I need to loose 25kgs..

      every thing works if you give it some time . post pregnancy weight is very stubborn … you will have to stick with the gym for a minimum of 6 months to actually spot difference .. did you do it for that long ?

    Hi I’m 21 years of old and my weight is 60(height is 5 5′).so can suggest me food diet without using of tablets(narmoz) which was suggested by a gynaecologist but I find when ever I take tablets I get but without tablets their is delay of periods and my last period was on August 22

    I am on fourth day of diet today, and I now realise that by mistake I had 2 bananas on day 1, and today again being banana/milk day, shall I consume the mentioned quantity of Bananas. I am worried if this is hamper my weight loosing mission. Also in this three days I haven’t lost a single kg. Please suggest.

      Your body must have gotten used to the exercises and walking you do and now adjusts to whatever little calories you are intakingf. this happens in a lot of cases where despite of all efforts you dont lose a bit. breaking this plateau requires a lot of patience …. here is what you can do …….. exercise wise – stop doing what you are already doing for a week … and then you surprise your body with a new activity .. for ex – you have been walking all these days , so now change your activity to swimming / zumba dancing / skatting / gyming / playing badminton or lawn tennis … whatever suits you best. tai chi and kick boxing and pillates work excellently in such cases., i know its hard to find time and availabilty of such sports around you .. but if you want to get there .. you need to find harder !!

      Food wise – surprise your body yet agin by co nsuming food stuffs that you never did .. it changes your metabolic graph and hence makes you lose weight …. ex – if you have been eating wheat and rice as staples so far … dont eat them for an entire week , and consume other cereals like bajra , jowar , or ragi …. this funda has worked superbly with my clients .. you can try and see if it suits you too ..

One more thing whenever I try to do the exercise it effects my right leg which is weak because of my disc disease. And my weight bother me a lot. Please help me. Thank you

    Thank you for your response. I really appreciate that.I will do Zumba and swimming as my excerise. Can you please give diet plan. I been eating fruits, salad, carrot Raita, oatmeal. 8-10 glass of water with Mint leaves, ginger, cucumber, lemon. Please advise what should I eat different now so I will lose some weight .

      Your body must have gotten used to the exercises and walking you do and now adjusts to whatever little calories you are intakingf. this happens in a lot of cases where despite of all efforts you dont lose a bit. breaking this plateau requires a lot of patience …. here is what you can do …….. exercise wise – stop doing what you are already doing for a week … and then you surprise your body with a new activity .. for ex – you have been walking all these days , so now change your activity to swimming / zumba dancing / skatting / gyming / playing badminton or lawn tennis … whatever suits you best. tai chi and kick boxing and pillates work excellently in such cases., i know its hard to find time and availabilty of such sports around you .. but if you want to get there .. you need to find harder !!

      Food wise – surprise your body yet agin by co nsuming food stuffs that you never did .. it changes your metabolic graph and hence makes you lose weight …. ex – if you have been eating wheat and rice as staples so far … dont eat them for an entire week , and consume other cereals like bajra , jowar , or ragi …. this funda has worked superbly with my clients .. you can try and see if it suits you too ..
