All said and done, itโs time now to take a look at the actual Indian vegetarian GM diet plan.
Day 1:
On the first day of this plan, you are required to eat only fruits. The quantity of intake is not defined, and hence you can eat till you feel full.

To make this healthier, I would suggest you to –
- Include a huge variety of fruits. Involve all colors of fruit to get maximum benefits of the antioxidants. Red, yellow andย green eat them all.
- Wherever possible eat fruits with the peel, this will help in increasing your fiber intake. Like in case of apple and pear. This fiber will help you keep away from hunger pangs and will make you feel full.
- Citrus fruits like pineapple, orange, lemon, sweet lime, strawberries will provide you with a lot of Vitamin C. This will help you in flushing off the wastes and keep a good shineย on your face and hair.
- Eat all melon fruits – Melon fruits are high in water content. They will lead to increased urination, helping you flush the toxins and also water weight. This is specifically helpful in cases of water retention.
Day 2:
This is your vegetable day. This function is similar to fruits. The variety ensures that most micronutrients are provided to the body. You can boil them, steam them, have it raw or make a soup out of it. You can have 1 cup of baked or boiled potato too.

My Take
- Have the boiled/baked potato for breakfast. This will ensure a good and energetic start to your day. If you donโt like only potatoes, you can try this apple and potato salad.
- Use spice to make your boiled/steamed vegetables taste good. No point eating them bland and then losing your motivation to move ahead.
- Squeezing lemon on your veggies will not only add taste but also provide Vitamin C to assure that glowing face.
- If you are fond of salads, here is a good recipe.
- Add some green tea to your day to ensure detoxification. (without sugar)
Day 3:
The third day is a blend of the first 2 days. On this day you can have all the veggies and fruits you ate on the previous days. You need to avoid potatoes and bananas on this day.

My Take:
Day 4:
This is a high potassium and high carbs day. This will help in replenishing your energy stores. You are allowed to eat up to 8 bananas and 4 glasses of milk on this day.ย you can spend the rest of the time eating fruits and vegetables or even vegetable soup (no cream).

My Take:
The Smoothie day, as I call it is a blessing in disguise, after the 3 days of munching on veggies and fruits, your taste buds would love the change. Just blend a smoothie out of 2 bananas and a glass of milk.
- In a small personal experiment, I changed the bananas to mangoes (total 4 .no) and I saw the same effect. Mangoes are equally high in potassium as well as in carbs. Plus the combination is irresistible for me. You can try it too. This made me recharge my motivation to finish up the pending days.
- Recipe for simple, low-calorie vegetable soup. (Fast to cook too).
Day 5:
This is protein day. You need to include paneer, curd, soy milk, soya chunks along with 6 tomatoes. The original GM diet needs you to eat 10 oz of beef, which provides around 60 – 70 gms of protein. To meet this, you need to eat either 500 Gms of paneer or you can also have 250 Gms of paneer + 20 gms of soya chunks + 150 ml curd.

My Take:
I observed a good drop in weight on this day.
- I donโt like eating plain paneer, I mean it is bland and I doubt if anyone really could eat it plain. So I suggest you grate some carrots and lots of chopped Bell pepper (very good for weight loss), onion and tomatoes. Make paneer bhurji (something like scrambled egg) out of it in 1 tsp olive oil. I used a lot of spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cloves for taste.
- If you like soups, you can make a vegetable soup as well as add small paneer cubes to it along with some chopped veggies on top.
- If you are an eggitarian, you could replace paneer with egg whites.
- Some websites suggest eating Brown rice on this day. I found it irrelevant.ย Brown rice is not protein for sure.
- 6 tomatoes can be easilyย used in diets or as aย juice along with other veggies.
Day 6:
This day is more or less like your day 5. You can incorporate similar foodstuff in an increased quantity if needed.

Day 7:
On the last day, you can continue to eat the vegetables as well as fruits of your choice (avoid the high carbs ones) along with a cup of brown rice at lunch.
If you have done it all, at the end of the week you would find yourself weighing lighter than before.ย I observed that every time I fought hunger while following the plan, I was full of demotivation and moreover, I wanted to give up instantly. But I tried to control that emotion by telling myself that the GM diet is about restricting food groups on particular days and not about remaining hungry. So I went on to eat what was allowed until I felt my stomach was full. This at least helped me in finishing what I started.
Note – I may have modified the GM diet plan a bit here and there in the best nutritional interest of the readers.

i do not recommend on following gm diet for 2 weeks in continuation. this is a crash diet, and at the end of the day, not healthy. i do not want ou yto land up with deficiencies and work gets affected seriously. uyou will lose all the stamina and energy. its best to follow it d=once a moth . then ttake a 3 weeks gap and follow again
Hi Payal. I have completed the seven days and have lost 2.5kgs in all. I am 5ft 1″ and weighed 62kgs before this programme. I currently weight 59.5kgs; it feels wonderful to be under 60kgs again. The last time I was under 60kgs was three years ago. I feel lighter and much fresher than I have been in some time. I fully intend to follow the good habits I have picked up in this one week and hope to shake off the extra weight I’m still carrying.

i am a little confused about Day 6 & 7. The quantity of brown rice is one bowl. Can it be consumed only once in the whole day? What else can be eaten on those days.

yes green tea can be consumed on all days. day 6 is same like day 5. just that there is no quantity restriction and you can eat the mentioned protein foods till you are full. day 7 is more like day 3. mix of veggies and fruit and you can add a bowl of brown rice for lunch .

secondly , for lower body , you need to workout . only diets will not help you much . instead of over all gyming , try to work out those legs and hips more.
Hello . Am on Day 3 of GM Diet . I have already completed GM diet twice in the past. The first time I lost around 3 kg’s and the second time it was quite disappointing as I lost only 1 kg even though I stuck to d prescribed plan . This is my third time .And From Day 1 till Day 3 – I have lost around 2 kg’s . Can I lose up to 4 kg’s by Day 7? Do I have to do anything in addition ?

it is really hard to predict how much you would lose . the weight loss is completely your body’s own responnse to diet , health condition , climmatic conditions etc . so the weight loss will vary each time you follow this diet . Also remember that people who have more fat to lose , lose more weight with this diet . and those who are close to their ideal body weight lose comparitively less weight . so the degree of over weight / obesity also decides hpow much weight you would lose.
there is nothing additional you can do to lose more weight during this term . just follow the plan and go with the flow.

I have completed 3 days of GM Diet.
Day 1 –> Raw fruits except Banana(No salt/sugar) . good quantity
Day 2 –> Veggies(Raw cucumber/carrots/cauliflower and saute cauliflower and broccoli without salt and oil , added lemon for taste) . Good Quantity
Day 3 –> Mixture of Day 1 and Day 2 . Good Quantity.
I have to start Day 4 tomorrow morning . I have prepared Soup for the same with less amount of salt(50% less sodium salt) , But didn’t put cabbage in the soup. Forgot to buy :) . Is it ok without cabbage ?

yes it is . make sure you finish the prescribed amount of banana and milk , dont over feed on soups so much that you dont feel hungry for the important items for the day :P .

1] yes boiled or steamed or roasted corn are allowed .
2] add only rock salt / black salt. do not use table salt as much as possible.
3] sorry , my version of GM diet plan does not allow rice on day 5 and 6 . you can check with the authors of plan that you are following.
4] for day 7 , you can have brown rice pulav with veggies . and thin fat free rasams and sambar is allowed in my version.

wonder soup is allowed from day 2 onwards . actually on day 4 its beter to finish the banana and milk allowance first and then if you feel hingry have soups . normally , if you have soups during the day , you would feel full and there is a possibility that you may nat finish the prescribed amount of milk and banana which affects weight loss. so act accordingly .

I am 26 years old, 5’4” and currently weigh 77 kgs.i have a weight loss goal of another 15-20 kgs.my questions are:-

2.I follow a 1300Cal diet till the next gm diet schedule and my weight remains constant,so should I add additional diets?
3.will doing gm diet once every month for a year cause muscle mass loss as it has low protein diets and no weight training?
4. Will I get loose skin if I loose weight this way? looking at your age, i will advice you to follow a healthy way of weight loss instead of following such crash diets. you can do this diet once in a while to kick start your metabolism . but its not an every day diet , and definitely will not help in permanent weight loss. consider following the 1200 calorie diet plan on dietburrp . our readers are losing 6-7 kgs weight in a month by following the 1200 calorie diet charts.

Successfully completed Day 1 yesterday. It was a breeze eating just fruit. I checked my weight this morning and lost 700 gms. No idea if this is good or not. I woke up excited that I could eat a potato for breakfast but I struggled to finish one medium sized boiled potato. Now, this is unusual as I’m very fond of boiled potatoes. I’m putting this behind me and looking forward to the rest of my day. I love my veggies and I hope it won’t be a difficult day, I have packed a small salad of steamed cabbage, carrot and green beans for mid morning snack. And a roasted veg salad for lunch – mixed bell peppers, asparagus, broccoli, four cherry tomatoes, zucchini, seasoned with some dried oreganoand balc pepper. I’m carrying a lemon with me just in case the salad needs a little lift. I’m feeling quite positive and motivated.

I lost 1.3 kgs in all after Day 2. It might not seem like a lot but a loss is a loss! And I’m very pleased about it. Day 3 was lot more easier than Day 1 and 2 as I could have both fruit and vegetables. I followed your recipe for the soup and I love it! I might start making this more often. Thankfully, I’m very fond of both. Day 4 is probably the least appealing to me but I’m all up for it.
I have one query, for my Day 5 would 200gms of chickpeas, 100gms of moong daal and 50-75gms of paneer be right? I would want a combination of these three with only a small amount of paneer.

Hi Payal. Thank you so much for your prompt reply. That chart was very useful. It helped me plan my menu for day 5 and 6 with various combinations like chickpeas, a little paneer and some soya granules. I made patties out of chickpeas and soya granules with bell peppers, onions and very little spices . I used a couple of mists of olive oil from a spray can and baked them in the oven. I was suprised at how delicious they tasted even without the regular amount of oil or eggs/potatoes for binding! They did turn out a bit dry but when had with a topping of a teaspoon of low fat curd with some cucumber and paprika and roasted jeera powder, they were as good as any shop bought ones. I had these patties with a raw tomato and fresh basil leaf salad.
Today is Day 5, and I have lost 2kgs in all. No weight loss on Day 4. I’m enjoying this challenge, trying not to think too much on the weight loss. Just focusing on sticking to the plan; if I manage to do that, the weight loss should automatically happen.
I feel constipated today. Is that normal? I have been drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day, and have also been eating plenty of watermelon.

yes it is kind of normal to get constipated , as carbs are absent to swell up and make bulk. if the constipation really trobles you , have a glass of warm milk at night with 1 tsp isabghol / psyllium husk

you can have spinach soup on any day in my version of GM diet. But make sure your receipe does not contain any fat in the form of butter or cream . also use rock salt / black salt in place of regular white salt.
Day 1 went well. Day 2 I ate salads, (cucumber, carrot, tomato, lettuce, lemon and herbs) and lots of water.

yes less intake of food can intiate headaches . you can have vegetable soups . if you are addicted to tea or coffee , have a cup of it and you should feel better. Just remember the thimb rule of GM diet . eat only those food items that are prescribed for a particular day , but dont count the quantity. eat till you feel full. with a little creativity , you can come up with awesome recipes to eat during this diet.

yes you can do that . but i wonder why you want to skip the protein day thats the day when you shed down your weight well . the first 3 days are for detox purpose only . so after going through all the hardship why not finish the thing that you started .
once the week is over , 1200 calorie diet will help. yes you can have other fruits , on day 4 after finishing the prescribed quantity of mango / chikku / banana.

yes GM diet can work for you if you follow it well. the first 3 days are meant for detoxification . if you ate fish / chicken, i mean only a small piece of it , then no issues , but if you ate more then 2 pieces , you might have to restart it all over again to see if the diet actually works.

whatever you have mentioned for today is right . dont worry . the way every body reacts to a particular diet is different in different people. what are your height and weight ? If you are close to your ideal body weight , the weight loss is less. more the amount of fat you have in body , easier and faster is the weight loss.

you can use rock salt / black salt / sendha salt instead of regular salt with your food. you can have 1 cup tea once a day or 1/2 cup tea twice a day .
after gm diet you can have 1200 calories diet from dietburrp to maintain the lost weight and lose further weight.

In my version o GM diet , i belive that if a 50 calorie cup of tea can help you stay on track for the remaining day , then there is no need to avoid it . you can consume 1 cup regular tea once a day , or half cup regular tea twice a day .

Today i’m on 4th Day of the GM Diet Plan, so far i dint find any issues but only concern is I was not able to quit Smoking.
I had limited my cigarettes to 3-4 per day in this 4 days i had about 12- 15 Cigarettes.
Would like to know while on GM Diet plan do i need to Quit Smoking? Please Advise.
And also i would like to know if i can continue the Diet Plan after 7th Day, i.e. beginning again the GM Diet plan from 8th Day.

well in my opinion , quiting smoking is not only important while you follow GM diet , but also otherwise . smoking while on GM diet will obstruct the purpose of detoxification and will also affect the total amount of weight loss. It will lead to lesser weight loss. you may end up feeling really tired and weak and slugish . 15 cigerattes a day means an avrage of 2 cigarettes every day . please dont do it to yourself . get rid of this habit , and im sure you wount need to follow any such harsh diet programs ever … have you tried the nico chewing gums ? it really does help in Quiting . so does elaichi / elaichi pearls.
about your other question , i suggest following GM diet routine only once a month and nevere really follow it back to back . it may affect your health adversly

1] actually the regular table salt is to be avoided. but ypou can use any pottasium salt like rock salt or sendha salt , or ready made lona salt on all 7 days.
2] yes you can consume green tea while on GM diet . it will be helpful .
3] yes , most definitely but i would suggest you to skip on homey . just use warm lemon water . it is sufficient for detoxification purpose .
4] if you have acidity , avoid taking the warm water and lemon on empty stomach. it will aggrevate acidic reactions. best way is to start your day with an apple on all 7 days . consume something every 2 hourly . so not wait to feel hungry or once the acidity steps in , your entire day will become a bad experience.

yes water will not cause any weight loss error . the hogh intake of water is suggested to make sure that all the toxins from the body are flushed out properly so that you feel fresh the whole day and feel energetic enough. what is gone is one , but make sure you drink a lot of water now on , whether or not you are following GM diet . remember , excessive urination is a sign of good weight loss and glowing skin .

But i wanted to know, what i have followed is correct. so that next time i can change if there’s anything wrong.
Day1 – Apple, Pomo, Orange, Musambi, Musk melon, Pappaya, Pineapple, Guava –> all these i ate as fruits not juice
Day2-Carrot, Cucumber-raw & beans,cabbage,carrot boiled in steam, added table salt & pepper; & by evening i brought veg soup from hotel & had that too. This day i was really out of energy
Day3-Raw Carrot & Cucumber & fruits – apple, Pomo, pineapple, Guava & Pappaya; Knorr hot&sour ready mix soup prepared @ home
Day4 – 4 Bananas and 4 tumblers of milk
Day5- boiled Sprouts made from red beans,brown Chickpeas,Horse gram, green gram & ate some raw green gram sprouts too & Knorr hot&sour soup prepared @ home & cooked plantain stem
Day6-boiled Sprouts made from red beans,brown Chickpeas,Horse gram, green gram & ate some raw green gram sprouts too & Knorr hot&sour soup prepared @ home

From Day 5-7 i had constipation problem even though i had 4-5 lits of water per day.
i was surprised on my constipation problem. is there something wrong i did ?
Apart from this i am doing a 45mins walk in the morning as well.

2] correct . you could have had more soups and veggies if you were hungry . next time avoid table salt and use black salt / sendha salt / rock salt . you missed on potato .
3] correct . why ready to drink soup ? use the soup recipes from dietburrp . they are low fat and healthy .
4] you were supposed to have 8 bananas.
5] seems fine. except instant soup . have home made soup nexxt time . you missed on 6 raw tomatoes

every thing seems right . constipation was just your body ‘s reaction towards changed food intake . dont worry . it should clear by now.

yes i forgot to mention about Potato & Tomatoes. I had boiled potato with salt & Pepper on day2 for breakfast & 4-5 tomatoes on day 5 & 6.
sure will try to avoid table salt next time. whether we will get these types of salts in provisional stores ?

i will try for home made soups next time.
To be frank after this diet, i am very conscious of my food intake. i was fond of sweets, chocolates and ice creams, but now a days i dont have the cravings and feeling happy for that :-)

yes you can have the stuffed tomato in mentioned way on day 5 and 6. the closer you move to your ideal weight , weiht loss pace becomes less as the fat % decreases . so dont worry . just keep juggling your routines for exercise and diet as a same routine will make the body get used to the diet and exercise and your body will stop responding

Since my workout plan includes -in the morning i do half an hour aerobics after which i do 45 mins of power yoga and abs workout and in the evening i do 1 hr strength training. So can you please tell me should i follow this GM diet plan. ? Will it affect my everyday workout or not i mean in terms of energy?

your workout schedule is really good and you really dont need to follow such crash diets. you should try the other 1200 and 1400 calorie diet plan at dietburrp . they would be good for you . and by the way you go for gm diet , i am afraid you might have to take a break from your routine. as so much exercise with a crash diet will lead to weakness and you may even pass out during exercise session .
